Default Ambient air temp sensor

2014 XF project car, Climate display is reading ambient air temp as -40f. I removed the sensor from the mirror housing and tested it and the resistance responds to temperature changes but cant get it talk to the climate control.

Anyone have specs on what the range should be when testing these?

Car has no warranty due to accident so I cannot take it to the dealer.
thanks
Kevin

I'm confused here. Isn't the ambient air temp sensor behind the front bumper. Ambient air = outside air?

Nup, on an XF this sensor is on the underside of the LHS exterior mirror (so driver's side for LHD vehicles and passenger side for RHD vehicles).

Try to disconnect battery for 5-10 minutes and connect it again. Sometimes it's helps.
