Default Another washer pump question - PLEASE help

Hi all, I've been wrangling with this all day and I'm getting nowhere... my dads funeral is 200 miles away on Monday and I need to drive my XF there tomorrow... my washers have stopped working. I've replaced the pump itself with a new one, checked the electrical connection, cleaned out the filter, checked the fuse (swapped it with the wipers fuse and the wipers, still wipe...) and the only time you hear any 'motor noise' at all, is when the headlight washer pump fires, which it does, with vigor! Of course the headlight washer pump only runs on the first time you clean the windscreen, if you try again within 10 minutes, you get nothing (The wipers wipe, but the headlight pump isn't triggered, so no noise from the windscreen pump). I'm at a bit of a loss now as to what I should do... I thought maybe the relay was duff, but can't find a relay documented for it anywhere and since there doesn't appear to be a separate fuse for the two washer pumps, I'm assuming there's only one relay too, so likely also not the problem. Please help?

The pump can get blocked, pulling back the wheel arch cover gives access to the pump without removing the wheel or arch cover. Look at this tsb as it contains pictures of the pump etc that might help.

Thanks John, but as you might notice from my original post, I've actually changed the pump and the problem persists. The pipes and nozzles don't appear clogged, the pump simply doesn't get triggered, yet the fuse is fine and working.

Just updating this thread so that anyone else who has some of the same problems as me might get some use out of it...

The washer pump problem here turned out to be related to the CJB/BCM Corruption that happens to facelift X250's when the battery is disconnected, without following the correct battery disconnection procedure (Which as I understand it, is shut the doors, open the boot (trunk), walk away for 20 minutes and when returning to the car, leave the keys out of range of the car, then disconnect the battery). This causes corruption in the CJB and causes the VIN number inside the CJB to be incorrect and appear to the car, as though it's the CJB out of another vehicle. This tends to cause a 'Smart Key Not Found' Error and the car won't start, or even turn on the ignition. Fixing this is possible one of two ways:

1. Remove the CJB/BCM and send it to someone capable of fixing it. There are people on some of the different Jaguar forums, probably this one too, who are capable of doing it if you ask nicely. There are also companies out there who offer it as a service, search Ebay for "Fix Jaguar BCM" and you should find their listings. Be sure to check their feedback and make sure others have used them before for the same service and not had any problems.
2. Remove the CJB/BCM and fix it yourself, using an XProg device (Available online). This is not for the faint hearted, as it requires soldering wires directly to your CJB/BCM, then downloading the flash memory from that, then wiping the EProm on the CJB/BCM and re-flashing that with the backup you downloaded.
3. Reprogram the Instrument Cluster using Jaguar SDD. This is actually very easy once you get your hands on a cable, a battery support unit and working SDD software. I found this the hardest part by far, as I bought my cable and first attempt at the software from BritishDiagnostics online. Their cable seems good and I'm still using it, but their software is older SDD in a Windows XP VM that constantly blue screens and fails to properly read the car ECU's and/or crashes in the middle of stuff, so this is no good. I eventually found someone on one of the forums who was able to share a link to a 'cracked' version of SDD, which was able to download the new 'software' for the modules and successfully reprogrammed my Instrument Cluster. This however, leaves the washer pump not working and the only way to fix the washer pump, is to revert to option 1, or 2.

In short, if you got the 'Smart Key Not Found' error, took it to a jag specialist, or someone with SDD software and they 'fixed' your car, or you used SDD yourself to fix the car, but the washer pump doesn't work, you'll still need to take option 1 above to get your washers back. If you got here with none of that happening and your washers are simply not working, or not working very well, it's most likely the problem that John Williams has eluded to above. The washer pump 'filter', which is a little thimble shaped piece of rubber with some small holes in it, has probably got clogged and gunked up with residue from the washer fluid being sat for a long time and the washer bottle not being flushed through. If this is the case, you can fix this by turning your steering wheel all the way to the right and accessing the washer pump via the arch liner, pulling it out of the washer bottle, cleaning the filter and putting it all back together again.

No loss of coolant or power in my car, just the lack of washer pump after the battery. I actually still haven't gotten around to resolving the issue either, as I didn't have a laptop with XP on it and haven't had the time... going to have to crack on with it soon as have an MOT coming up soon!

thanks I will appreciate if you could very kindly update me if any updates as looks like we both experiencing the same program issue. As mentioned my issues all started after battery replacement. Do you know how much it would cost if it get it done by a mechanic? As in reading there are not not good jag specialists. Thanks
