Default Anyone using their Galaxy S3 with XF?

Anyone using the Samsung Galaxy S3 to play music in their XF?

IF so, how is it working out and are you using the USB connection or AV cord?

Works great. No issues phone wise unlike my previous windows phone (HTC HD7) that had connection issues on and off. I haven't ever had a phone work as far as music goes (bluetooth or USB). In fact I've never been able to get a USB stick to work in my car but the dealer said they tried it and it was fine (I'd like to have their magical USB stick). Aux works fine but it should with any phone.

I know the S3 will not show up as a USB hard drive unless you root/jailbreak the phone. I don't know what that means as far as the USB port in our cars though. I don't remember trying to hook it up via USB. I'd bet the car won't see it but I'll give it a try when I leave work.

Oh and I should say this is for a 2009 XF. The 2012 XF interfaces I've used have always worked as a phone and streaming music via bluetooth from any phone I've tried.

Blackcoog,

Have you tried formatting your USB stick to FAT32 and only using MP3 files? I use a 32gb Sandisk USB stick in my 2009 SC and it works great. Not to mention a 32gb stick (under 20 bucks also) holds a crap load of music. It will only work with the above mentioned format and files.

I did try formatting a 64GB stick to FAT32 I believe and running MP3's. I didn't have any luck. I was told to find a cheap USB stick with no security. I'm not sure how I can tell if it has no security or less security than my other sticks.

If your 32GB Scandisk USB stick works maybe I'll order one of those. I don't suppose you can give me a part number?

BTW to the original poster I hooked my S3 up to my car and tried to access music without any luck. The car never sees the USB device.

I have used 3 different USB's in my 09 XF NA and all had success...almost. I had an old kingston 2 GB that I was using which worked fine but I wanted more room. So I decided I would buy 4 4GB sandisk from China...bad move. They work but only about half the time. I started to get sick of constantly having to remove them and put them back in so I went to Futureshop (Canadian Bestbuy brother) and bought a 16 gb kingston they had on sale for $7.99. It has not had any problem whatsoever yet. Good thing the 4 from China only cost $20. I would recommend this one: Kingston Technology - DataTraveler G3 DTIG3/16GBZET Flash Drive - DTIG3/16GBZET thats what I bought and its working great!

Thanks both AaronW for the link and ttboonie for the PM with the link. I'll grab one of these and see if I can get it to work.

Do it only have to be usb to work or can I use my phone, tried both iPhone as well as Galaxy S3, it doesn't read it at all. Thinking about taking it to the dealer to see if they can figure it out. I like listening to pandora or spotify while driving..

Thanks for your help.

You can listen to audio via the AUX input but you have to use your phone to control it.
