Default Audible warnings muted - 2009 XF

So I have a weird problem. Just this afternoon, the audible warnings (single beep when car is double locked and double warning beep when locking is attempted with a door open) stopped working. The horn works and the audible warnings when the alarm goes off works. The car locks and alarm arms as normal. Pretty much everything works normally except for those warning tones. Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

The sounder for the alarm is a different unit than the horn. I had the same issue when I bought mine and had to replace that sounder unit. It's pretty easy to replace and you can usually get them on ebay for fairly cheap.
FYI, the sounder is located right in front of the windshield on the driver's side. You have to take some panels out to get to it, if I remember correctly, but it's still pretty self explanatory.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess the sounder unit wouldn't be responsible for the main alarm sound though correct? Because the alarm still works (I know because it went off multiple times when I was tinkering around lol). It's just the single and double beeps that don't seem to be working.

Also, by sounder, are you referring to the control module (part c2p22550)?

Actually this is considered the 'secondary alarm' correct? I'm looking online and can't find a specific part for this other than the main control module.

Perhaps it's the actual horn (c2z1109) that I should be looking for? I can only find sounder units for x types unfortunately.

Apparently it's old enough that I can't view the original, but it was called this:

Jaguar XF Security Sounder Alarm Emergency Horn 8X2T-971111

I can't seem to find it anywhere now, so you may have to check your local dealer.

And yes, the alarm will use the regular horn as well as the sounder when it goes off, so it will still work even though the unit failed.

Awesome. Thanks for your help. I actually did see that eBay listing that as you said was too old to be viewed. I'm wondering if the horn with the part number I quoted before replaced that sounder. It's located in the exact same spot that you mentioned.

Mine hasn't worked as long as I've owned it. Thought about getting it fixed under the CPO warranty, but decided I was okay without it.

Completely separate from the alarm system as others have mentioned.

The horn is a $20 part so if that is the culprit I'll probably just attempt to swap it out myself if it's not too difficult of a task.

It's not. I was able to figure it out and get it done in about an hour.

I have the workshop manual so I'll just use that as a guide. In any event, it started working again today (24 hours after it stopped working). Just part of that jaguar charm lol
