Default Bad Battery History

When the trucker collected my car from the dealer he had to install another battery cause the original one was flat dead. I later had it charged and a week later when I took it to my local area Jag dealer the battery was once again dead. After a second charge it workd for 10 days when I had the car shipped for a 15 day ride. When it arrived it was once again dead. Now the battery works fine but I am getting recurring Check Engine Light. I tested the battery with a dedicated battery tester. All cells are ok but it reports the battery as LOW. Voltage is reported at 12.25V After a 4 hour 6Amp charge Battery was up at 12.86. I drove the car for about an hour and back home rested and got 12.30V seems battery is on the way out. Has anybody tested their voltage battery lately so I can get an idea of proper average voltage?

Most batteries I've checked in the past will usually be about 14.4v when motor is running and the alternator is charging the battery. I've not checked my XF, but it should be the same.

I had a battery issue on my last 2 XF's. Both of them needed the TSB done for the battery drain issue with the instrument cluster. All has been fine since then.

I think it is : K098 XF Software Enhancement Program. It makes the IPM go to sleep and prevent battery run down or strain. This plagued me on my 09 for a few months until they applied the update.

Thanks, mine is late 2010 so that has been taken care of. However, it seems that even though a battery reads proper voltage current may be the problem.

You need Bulletin jtb00213 reflash of infotainment. Battery voltage is not the tell all which is why all dealers are supposed to test with a midtronics testor from jaguar that also test reserv power and canking amps

Brutal, I have a Midtronics PBT300 at home and tested the battery with it. It gave me OK-Low. I charged with low amp load and tested after, all ok 12.87. However, a day after voltage is down again thus my suspision battery is not holding charge.

yeah ide just get another, you would not believe all the issues caused by a bad battery. We have a tech(loosly used in this case) that replaced almost the entire nav/enertainment system for screen lockup that turned out to be a battery. I wish he'd be fired because he cant fix shyt, and just takes all the good easy work and cant work on anything new and complicated(obviously). But hes a foreigner and been here at Jag 20+yrs and started when the cars were easy to fix. Worse thing is he's probobly a millionair now(side businesses and real estate) and only works here because he just wants more money

You're car has to still be under warranty correct? Why not just get another battery from the dealer instead of going through everything else at your own time and expense?
