Battery Tender Use

Battery Tender Use
Hi,
I just traded my 2012 XF for a 2015 XF 3.0 SC AWD.
I have always used a battery tender to keep the battery charge level up on my previous Jaguar and other BMW's etc...
The tender that I have is a BMW branded unit with positive and negative alligator clips for a positive connection as well as ground to some metal portion of car. The actual unit sits outside of the car and plugs into a wall outlet.
The problem I am having is that the new car came with the huge hard plastic Jaguar trunk mat which needs to be handled to get to the battery near the spare tire well to connect the tender. I just used the tender on my car for the first time and it was a bit of a pain to get this trunk mat out of the car and then return it after the car was fully charged. I also noticed that it took a full 24 hours to get a fully charged battery which is considerably longer than when I have used it on other cars but this was the first time that I have charged this car.
I know that the Deltran Battery Plus tender has some sort of quick disconnect extensions that you leave on the battery terminal and they extend over the trunk mat so you have an easy hook up without needing to remove the trunk mat. However, there may be easier solutions since I am hesitant to leave any wiring permanently attached to the battery.
Would anyone have either a different brand tender or simpler install method so that I can use a battery tender without needing to remove the large hard trunk mat each time or leave electrical cables permanently installed to the battery? I like having the trunk mat and would not want to stop using it. I don't drive the car very much and have found that regular weekly use of the tender has eliminated electrical issues with other cars. Especially, with my BMW's.
I have already been told that the cigarette lighter adapter cable to tender connection would not work since the lighter is not always receiving power.
I appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thank you.

On the right side of the trunk, there is a small panel behind which are a number of fuses. Take the Deltran quick disconnect, snake it down to the battery and permanently connect it to the battery. The other end will just reach to where the fuses are. When you want to use the battery tender, remove the cover to the panel and connect your tender to the end of the quick disconnect. This is what I've done and it is very handy even if you don't have a rubber trunk mat.
