But if you're not sure if you like it, which goes without saying since you're asking us, you might consider a temporary solution first like Plasti-Dip with the "glossifier" to get the shine. You can do it on one side of the car, see if you like it. Then you can peel it off and leave it silver, or take them to be painted black.
Oh, the trim around your windows is not chrome. It's anodized. And Plasti Dip can be used to see what that would look like black.

A variation of the same theme, if you like the chrome look, but want something darker, look into what is called "black chrome". It comes out a very dark gray, but it will prevent the car from getting to monotone in color. The finish would be as hard as what the wheels are currently and getting it done is not that bad in price. This would also allow you to pull off the trim around the windows and have that done to the same color too. It would be a custom thing that you know that you would be only 1 of a few that have that setup.
