I live near Wash.DC. For a scratch/minor body damage over the rear wheel well, what’s the body shop gonna charge me?

Impossible to say without seeing it, but I'll assume its really just a scratch. Find out your local shop rates but lets say $60/hr for a national average, and figure about 6 - 8 hours work to sand out a scratch and repaint the whole panel from the a-pillar to the taillight. Add $150 for materials charge, including primer, base color, clear, sandpaper, masking tape, paper, cleaning solvents, that construction paper mat they put in the footwell etc. I would go in expecting around $600, but I would not be surprised to get some higher quotes as I imagine labor rates much higher in DC. If misery loves company, I've had the XF's front bumper cover, the right rocker panel, a-pillar (quarter panel) and mirror painted, plus the hood done twice, mostly from just random flying debris kicked up on the freeways. I am quite sure over the last 20 years, that I personally financed the remodel of Mr Guerrero's new waiting room.
