Default Boost?

Now that I'm back in the world of boost (... :-) I've wondered why no one seems to talk about how much boost is produced in a V8 or V6 engine?

Back in my Dodge Turbo days how many lbs of boost could be generated was always a major topic.

So, does anyone know how much our engines produce? Or, is the fact that these engines are supercharged rather than turbocharged make a difference?

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car
Oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, and
Torque is how far you take the wall with you

there is a big difference between turbo and super charging....especially in power delivery and amount of power. Not sure the boost pressure, but i believe they are different between the 2, and differ between 8 and 6 cylinders

Check out the various Velocity AP tuning threads over on the F-Type forum.
There are two main ways to increase the power output and/or fatten up the curve "below the line" of both the AJ126 and AJ133 SC engines - tune the ECU and replace either or both of the supercharger pulleys (smaller top pulley or larger lower/crank pulley).
In all of these cases the maximum SC boost pressure is increased, not sure exactly how much, but I also understand the increase is not as great as when tuning a turbo system.
I also understand that the V6 has a greater stock boost pressure than the V8 and this is the main reason for it's significantly higher power/displacement ratio.

The early(ish) XFR will be about the same as the STR and the figures for that are available. Maybe others are, or you could use them as a starting point.

Boost on the stock AJ133SC engine is 11.6 psi.

So low? The STR looks to be 13.1psi.

Too many variables between the Jag SC V8 and the Sub Turbo flat 4 to have a real meaningful comparison.

Will, he's talking about the Jaguar S-Type R (with the 4.2 SC V8).

Don't worry, the first time I saw some posts about the Jaguar STR I has no idea what they were rabbiting on about!
