Brand New XF Blown Engine - Help!
Hi Everyone,
I have had a 2012 Jaguar XF for about 3 years (less than 30k miles), and last week the engine blew while i was driving home. A slight rumble and jerkiness in the engine turned into --> Low Coollant, Restricted performance indicators flaring, then the engine stalled with light smoke coming from the rear.
Unfortunately, the warranty just ended last December, and the shop i took it to is saying the engine is flooded with coolant, and will need to be completely replaced. His diagnosis is that the water pump failed, engine overheated, and is now blown.
The options he gave me are: Used engine at comparable miles plus water pump, coolant, filter etc. for 16K, but the value of the car is only 25K!!!!
I really need some help here, does anyone have any recommendations on what i should do? Is there no recourse i can take back to Jaguar? It seems insane to me that a brand new car had a water pump failure and blown engine.
Any help or guidance would be extremely appreciated.
I have no transportation, and need to make a decision soon, so if anyone can assist, please contact me.
Regards,
Robert

So 2012 isn't "Brand New" as we're in 2016....
You can try reaching out to JaguarUSA and see what they might have to say but if you're out of warranty and you continued to drive when all the bells and warnings were going off, then you're going to have a hard time proving a case. Some of the XF have been known to have water pump issues but I think they were the early (09/10) models. Was the diagnosis from a Jaguar or independent Jag shop or just a general auto shop ?
There is a reason some of us have extended warranties on these cats...

First of all sorry to hear about your troubles.
I've deleted your other duplicate post in the General Tech Help section, multiple posting is against forum rules.
Don't post your email address publicly either unless you want to get spammed...

As to what to do about your car, i'd be getting in touch with Jaguar USA first off.
Good luck.

It sounds like you lost a head gasket. Unless you drove it for a long while I think that the engine would be rebuildable.
The shop that you took it to may not know how to rebuild an engine and may only know how to pull an replace. A blown engine is usually a cracked block or something. You still had oil which should have prevented it from seizing.

Are you talking about how the car drove BEFORE coolant leaked all over the engine?
