Can Cracked cold air intake pipe cause RP?
I bought my 2009 XF 3.0 Diesel around 7 months ago with 92,000 miles on the clock.
It was immaculate and I fell in love immediately. I’ve had 6.5 months of nothing but love. Then two weeks out of warranty, when my wife was driving, it went into the dreaded restricted performance.
I thought I’d have a look before I put it into my local Indy.
I thought the EGR or MAF sensor may be the cause as it was only when under pressure, putting foot down at around 40+ and 3000+ revs. Tried cleaning both and it worked perfectly, for one 10 minute journey. Then it was back.
I’ve noticed that the cold air intake to the airbox is cracked quite badly (50p sized hole). I’ve ordered a new one so will replace soon but could that be the issue or am I just being unreasonably optimistic?
