Default Car Seemed Dead

My wife went to open and start our 2012 XF and got no response with the remote - we tried 2nd as well. The car was fine when she parked the night before. I pried off the lock cover on the door, but could not seem to open the door with the key (is the lock electrically operated?) I used the key to finally open the trunk - it was difficult to turn key. I was getting ready to access the battery compartment thinking it might be dead when the alarm went off. I turned it off with the unlock button on the fob. After that the car was unlocked and started easily. Only odd thing I noted was an instruction on the display to depress foot brake and set parking brake. That took care of the message and everything seems to work fine now.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Thanks.

I've seen that happen when the battery is on its last legs.

Check the battery resting voltage is 12.6V or more.

I appreciate the suggestions. I will check the battery output tomorrow. From previous experience with Jaguars, I know that low batteries can create odd problems.

The XF is a 2012 Portfolio model with the 5.0 engine. It has been a great car thus far, but am concerned on the apparent electronics issues.

Thanks,

A battery can fail at any time, regardless of age, so that's the first port of call. Hope you get it sorted.

I checked the battery voltage after the car set overnight (has not been driven for a couple of days) and the voltage is 12.34 volts. I do not know if that is low enough to have caused the problem. Any thoughts on this?
Some additional information: Purchased the car as CPO car in March 2017 with 35,000 miles and it now has approx. 60,000 miles. It has an Interstate battery and I assume it was replaced by previous owner sometime prior to our purchase - possibly by dealer as it had been serviced there.
I will continue to monitor the voltage for a few days.
Thanks,

12.34 is incredibly low.
