CEL (MIL) light and mystery fault
Finally, a fault has shown up on my XF. The CEL illuminated one morning for no apparent reason. The dealer reset it within an hour. Nobody knows why the XF throws this code "air injection system" (O forget the numbers). They call it the Springtime fault and sure enough it occurred yesterday.
This XF is magic. I love the way it drives. It is reliable and seems to be built like a bank vault.
Looks fantastic after cleaning a few weeks of winter grime off the car today. Winter returns tonight though as we are expecting snow again!

so far, this may be a "needs a software rewrite" ie parameters are too tight and setting a code that shouldnt be, although there are issue with the XK (same platform) that are lines burned on the EGR pipe, vacuum line disconnected, bad solenoid. The only real issue with new cars is finding what causes the faults and fixing them. Not that later years dont have problems, you just know where to look the first time....

Same issue as before and no explanation other than this fault shows up in my local area and not elsewhere. The current theory is gasoline formulation which does change dramatically twice per year from winter to summer formulations. Our Spring doesn't happen until late May so we are still using winter gasoline, it was minus 10C this morning with snow and ice.
