Default certified warranty question

Hello

I have been looking for a certified XF- a lot of dealers say they can certify the car by purchasing a certified warranty.

i have bought other makes before, but have never heard of certification being bought separately.
Is this common with Jag's?

Also is there a certain rate- one dealer told me 1700, one said 2200 and one was 3000.00

any suggestions?

Jag CPO is just a "bought" factory extended warranty.

The car will then have a 6 year/ 100k bumper to bumper factory warranty. Full road side assissance. It is also transferable to the next owner as it is now tied to the VIN number.

But the 6 year period starts from the original delivery date of the first owner of the car.

For example, my 2010 was delivered to the 1st owner in May of 2010 and now is covered until May of 2016 or 100k whatever comes first.

But here is the kicker if the car can be CPOed by the dealer. It must be 100 % stock form. Must have the stock rims, stock exhaust, stock intake, tires and brakes must be new, all services fully up to date, etc...

So, the dealer may have to spend more to bring whatever car you are looking at up to spec.

Did you know that Jag has a website dedicated to just CPO cars? Google Jaguar CPO and you will find it.

It lists all CPO cars in the states and where they are. You can sort by year, color, options, etc... to find the exact one you want.

I bought mine in Detriot and drove 400 miles to get mine, but it was worth it to find the exact color and option package.

Good luck.

Mine car came with the extended 6 year 100k certified warranty. My dealer told me that only "critical components" are covered under the certified warranty after the normal 4 year warranty expires. That was a huge selling point for me. When I asked what "critical components" were covered they didn't know. WTF? It's not really a warranty then. I'd never pay extra for that.

My understanding is that the select certification covers pretty much everything except for consumables, trim items and I believe rubber items (e.g. hoses etc). Here is a list that someone posted a while back with the parts covered by the select certified warranty - seems pretty comprehensive. I suspect there is a fair degree of judgement around what is covered, and I've heard it varies a bit by dealer / service tech. But in general it's seen as a pretty good extended warranty coverage.

I did opt to buy it for my 2010 XF SC - I think it added about $2k to the purchase if I remember correctly. There isn't a 'set price' - they price at what they think they can get for it... Still, seemed worth it for the peace of mind to me. Others who are more confident in the reliability or who know a well priced tech of their own may prefer to avoid this cost.

38k seems a little steep for the car (particularly as some prefer the facelifted 2012 so these will get harder to shift) - but if you look around you'll get a good sense for what they are going for (and of course depends how keen your dealer is to part with it!)
Good luck.

I personally think 38k for an CPO 11 w/27k miles is good.

The 11s also come with free required maintenance (until 50k miles, I think).

I paid $34k for my CPO 10 Premium w/35k miles last August.

Does the CPO still qualify for .9% financing? It did when I bought mine.

Thanks for the clarification. I'd agree that if the $38k includes the select certification then it seems like a pretty fair price. But "10 XF premium" makes a good point that the 2011 comes with a better factory warranty than the 2010s. 5 year and 50k miles of full coverage (incl wear and tear items). So you'll have to judge depending on whether your mileage will take you over the 50k mark, as the select certification only adds 1 year to the factory warranty.

Good luck - I'm sure you'll love the car!

Agreed about mileage. I have 13k on mine since I bought it. I will hit 100k by May 16. And I plan on selling it right as the warranty expires.

thanks everyone for their precious input-
he finally texted me saying he will do the deal at 37500
which i think is a good one- i think 11'S have a little premium as they have a longer warranty and maintenance included.
i will b buying it tomorrow....will let you all know when i officially join the family
