Several times in the past few weeks, I've gotten the "Check Tire Pressure" warning in the center dash display. It comes on after driving 10-15 minutes and then disappears. The tire pressure is at 37 psi. Are my original TPMS sensors in the wheels going out? Anyone have the same issue?
With a genuinely false indication by TPMS, over inflating and then reducing to the correct pressure can often resolve the issue. However, the Sensors (item 1) in each wheel are fitted with a lithium battery and this could be cause after six years.
A loose harness connector to an Initiator (item 4) or a damaged/faulty Initiator could also trigger a random warning.
Part number 4 in my 2010 XF has been causing issues with the car. Tire pressure was fine and I never found out what it was, but if I made sure that the sensor #4 in the front was plugged into the harness it went away for a while. Traded the car for a 2013 model and said goodby to this issue.
