Default CMU self adjusting???

Mina Gallery told me remapping the CMU was not necessary if i upgraded the pulley and cat back exhaust. They said the CMU will adjust on it's own.
Any thoughts on this?
I also spoke with Eurotoys, and they remap the CMU for $1200...

Is a CMU the ECU? If so, then correct, it will adjust itself within 45 - 300 miles..

Yes Randy, thanks... What's the point in remapping the ECU then if it does it on it's own?

When you pay to get a remap, what you are getting is another 40-60HP.. it has nothing to do with the pulley. it's basically tweaking the machine to squeeze out more HP..

FWIW, i just past the 100mile mark since getting my new pulley. i "got into it" a little bit just a few minutes a go and i noticed a HUGE difference not only from before the pulley, but also from after the pulley was first installed. I was initially a bit disappointed on the drive home withe the new pulley - i could feel a difference, but not as much as i expected.. Today, there is without a doubt a BIG difference, so i guess there is something to that automatic ECU "adjusting" ..

That's what i was told... Takes about 100 miles of driving to self adjust. Also told, the harder you drive it the better results u will get out of the improvements.

I have been very disapointed with the re-map of my ecu. dont really notice much difference. in fact it seems to me like the car has lost some midrange punch. In 3rd gear around 4k rpms just doenst seem to have the snap it had before, and this is after a pulley and remap. Have not been able to get dyno pull done because since the remap, even in manual mode, the trns wont hold a gear. it gets to redline and shifts on its own.....thats not suppose to happen. Shift points as a whole seem to have changed. i am taking the car back to get the stock tune put back on the car. very disapointed so far.

That's Eurotoys... I spoke with Mike about doing mine, charges $1200 for it. Ordered my Mina pulley and exhaust today, should have on in a cpl weeks. I'm hoping to be happy like Randy is.

Well i know theyve done a bunch of 4.2 supercharged xf's. just not sure how many xfr 5.0's . need totalk to them directly. i was going thru a another tuner who used eurotoys.....just not sure its worth the 1200 bucks.......havent seen a marked improvement at all. so far modding this thing has been no where near as satisfying as when I had my Z06 done. I could tell instantly that It had much more. Figured getting more from a supercharged engine would be easier even......they are sure getting the CTS V's fast.

Did you wait past the 100+ mile "adjust" period? He told me that's when you'd really notcie the difference.

Well that's good to know, since I was considering that once the pulley and exhaust went on.

Hi XFR's. I'm from the S-Type forum with an 03 S-Type R (400 hp s/c 4.2). It runs a: K&N drop-in a/f, aftermarket air intake tube/elbow developed and sold by one of our members, Eurotoys' low temp. thermostat and 3 lb. pulley, Magnaflow's 2.5" hi-flow cats and x-pipe, 2.5" pipe to Magnaflow 4" resonators/mufflers, dumping into a pair of Borla's. A hard re-set of the ECU was performed at each junction. Though she runs noticeably stronger (est. 450 hp) she feels like she's missing something; bringing it all together. A quantifiable ECU tune has been evading. For the past year I've been mulling wether to send it to Eurotoys or overseas to Paramount Performance. Phil of Eurotek Designs seems evasive when we ask for dyno sheets for his STR ECU tune. Now I'm very concerned when someone mentions the ECU tune wasn't worth the $995. Todd appears upset with the Eurotoys ECU tune. Wish I could be of some help but searching for answers myself.

I dont want anyone to get me wrong me wrong now, my car runs strong, its a very fast 4 door sedan. I guess I was just expecting more of a kick in the *** when this was done. maybe if i add the k&n cia, exhaust it will liven things up even more. I love how strong the car is, just not sure if the pully and tune is worth the 2K it has cost to have it all done. Still on the fence.

Todd, I believe you wrote that you had a pre-dyno performed and she was putting out 460 rwhp? If so, is there a future post pulley/ECU tune dyno? Only one way to find out if your cat gained 40-60 ponies.... The major pain in the *** for the STR's and pulley swaps is heatsoak to the s/c intercooler/chargecooler circuit. On a cool temp. day my STR pulls like a bat out of hell for a while. Hot days only allow for an hour of fun before the ECU pulls back timing and dumps fuel to cool off the chambers. I'm not sure how the XFR's s/c cooling circuit works but a "Chiller Killer" is available for $650. It is plumbed placed around the A/C line, cooling off the s/c cooling circuit. I read that it does an awesome job and is likely a future mod. The 03 Mustang Cobra guys love it.
