Hello all and greetings from Ireland. I thought after exactly a week of new ownership of my 09 XF 3.0D I should introduce myself. I have driven a 96 XJ6 4.0l Sovereign for the last six years and while it was a most enjoyable experience, the time had come to move on.

There were very few cars about that I was happy to replace my XJ6 with, but the XF caught my eye and so, the deed was done. Only time will tell how it compares, but at the moment I'm really enjoying the experience. It's a much more "spirited" drive, with superb road holding on the twisting, winding country roads that I travel quite a lot. The XJ, while no slouch, was always much more of a cruiser, and tended to wallow a little on the bends.

The XF seems to be more compact all round and the disappearing sloping bonnet has to be gotten used to, whereas the XJ had four distinct corners by comparison. The much more modern level of equipment is welcome, especially the Bluetooth connectivity with my phone and the docking pod for music etc.

I also like the auto feature on the wipers, as wipers are something we use quite a bit in Ireland!

Anyway, just saying hello and hopefully any questions I ask will be based on idle curiosity more than absolute desperation.

Now I must go off and change my profile picture!!

Thought it was about time I put up a pic. I was waiting on some sunshine (you know how it is) but all we've had is wind and rain and grey skies! So the car needs a wash and polish, which I'm looking forward to doing. But here she is anyway.

Beautiful XF, congratulations to the new owner! In my opinion the XF is a jack of all trades in the best way possible. It’s easy and civilized around town, fun in the twisties and relaxing on a long cruise. I’ve driven over 7 hours non stop and felt relaxed when at my destination. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I haven’t experienced the 3 litre diesel in the XF but have it in our LR and it’s a magnificent engine with endless amounts of torque.

I wish you safe journeys!

Thanks, and I agree totally with the above. She does love the twisties, and now, so do I!! It can be a very pleasurable cruise, as it was on the 200+ mile journey home after I bought her and equally so, it can be a very progressive, sporty drive when you want. Lots of get up and go!
