Picking my new 15 XF 5.0 up on Tuesday and now that my XJR is gone I need to put a hitch on either my XF or my wifes 13 XF. Seems Curt doesn't list the hitch as fitting the 14s or 15s. Has anybody that owns one of these years put a hitch on it? I find it hard to believe that there would be any difference in the chassis of the later years and if it fit a post facelift car it would fit 'em all. Would prefer to put it on my car rather than hers. Any insight would be helpful.

 

Well 5.5 hours later I have the hitch nicely mounted on the 15 XF 5.0. No that doesn't include doing the wiring as I need a break before starting that now. It was a royal PITA but fits fine. Did have to take a bracket off and make larger holes as the holes didn't line up as the hitch pushed it to the side a couple mm. Access was very tight to get to the bolts.

 

I was at the auction where the original owner of Curt Manufacturing purchased a crate of hitch *****. Curt MFG did not even exist at that point he just went around to the local auto shops and sold the auction hitch ***** over the counter. And that's how he started, now it's quite an operation with global sales. He had set up in a corner of our shop (owners son in law) and started to fabricate hitches. Original owner sold it off now but it's still a good product. Another rags to riches in America... happens everyday.

 

That's a pretty funny start. They do seem to have better quality control then most of the others or at least I don't find that the powdercoating peels off nearly as fast as some of the other manufacturers.
