Default Custom exhaust: Mina vs. Spires/Quicksilver/Paramount/Miltek

Hey, guys,

I've been researching a custom exhaust for my XF 4.2 SV8 - it seems like most of the exhaust manufacturers are in UK: Spires, Quicksilver, Miltek, Paramount. I spoke to several and they all ship to the US and don't charge sales tax.

A Mina representative told me that they are all sound somewhat alike and noticeably louder and a bit different than Mina. Has anyone had a chance to listen to both in real life? I'm interested to know how Mina compares to these guys, and whether they're worth the money or I should just go with Mina.

Thanks!

It depends on what you are looking for. The Mina is pretty tame. If you want something much louder than stock I'd go with the UK options. If you want a bit more sound without being obnoxious get the Mina.

The Mina system on mine sounds just right for a Jaaag! Not loud or obnoxious inside the car but more sound than stock, stand behind the car and you can hear it is something special.

I love loud exhausts, the system on my Z06 Corvette is awesome (headers, high flow cats, x pipe, b&b fusion mufflers) but do not feel the sound would be appropriate or in character for a Jaaag.

I have had the Mina exhausts on my XFR for almost a month. They sound great at start up but I don't like the drone sound inside the car when I'm stuck in traffic and the rpms are at around 3000. It's hard to have a conversation. I also don't like the sound at really high rpms. They seem to have a buffering sound that is just not right. I'm at the performance academy this weekend and want to compare my experience to stock exhaust again. I may go back to stock and sell the Mina's on eBay.

Strange, I have not experienced any drone in my car with the Mina system.

No issues here with the Mina exhaust. Had it installed this summer - '12 XFR. Sounds great and many friends have commented as such....Any louder and it would be over the top (at least for me).

I have heard the SPires and Quicksilver in person and they both sound the same. They both are kinda loud and have lots of the popping sound and raspy on decel. I also think they cost way to much for what they are and do not make any more power over the other units out there. I had the extra money to spend but I saved it and did the mina instead. I am happy I did.
The only other route I would have gone is to use 1 of those Varex units and put stock tips on it.

Thank you guys for your opinions! It seems like there's some sort of a consensus that Mina probably goes as load as one would want without being obnoxious. I think this is exactly what I'm looking for. I also don't like popping or raspiness.

I think I'll go with Mina - thanks!
