on the rear.

AND it took Jaguar over 3 freakin' hours to get roadside assistance to me. I am pizzed.

The Lexus roadside and the Mercedes roadside were there within an hour but the ******** who does the Jaguar roadside is an ***.

Wow!!.... Catastrophic failures of the tires (with help) could have landed you in a more "Final" circumstance. Be happy your still around to complain. That truely is a stinkin' shame though. Where did that piece of iron come from!!..

Take care

Why so expensive? Anyway, surely you're not footing the bill?
Please tell me you're not footing this bill??

Did this fall off a truck in front of you and if so did you get his number and report him? The Company should be taking care of these costs.

Even if that were the case, if it was just the wheel / tyre.....don't you have a full size spare?
I'm sure I could get a set including tyres for that price you quoted

I am paying my deductible ($500). These 20"x30 and 35 Dunlop tires are really expensive (almost $450 each). The rear wheel was over $1100 and the front was almost a grand. And then there's the alignment.

I don't know where this came from. I was the 8th of 9 cars to hit it and be disabled. I didn't even see it as I wasn't looking at the road but at the nearby cars. I was coming up on a toll plaza and there's a lot of jockeying going on.

I hope that you have wheel and tire insurance. if so, they will take care of this entire thing. If not, I would go against the truck that drop this piece of steel. My experience with jaguar roadside assistance was wonderful. it took them only 10 min. to get to me.

Thank your lucky stars. I knew a guy who got hit on the head by something like that falling off the flat deck of a truck. A heavy steel disc fell of the flat deck right in front of him and then immediately smashed through his windshield at highway speeds and struck him on the forehead.

He didn't get the number either, he was knocked unconscious, only his quick thinking son saved the day by leaning over and steering the car while he got his leg in to apply the brake to stop the car.

Criminal charges need to be laid against truckers with unsecured loads, BEFORE the load departs the truck, or this will keep happening.

It seems to be a Texas thing. I have lived in Texas 8 years now (after living in other parts of the US for 12 years) and never seen so much debris on the road elsewhere as I see here. It is not unusual to see all sorts of things (armchairs, grills, buckets, garden debris etc) on the road.

Also living in the Austin area is like living in a gravel pit. There are rocks and pulverized rock everywhere. The area is limestone and they quarry it for building. The trucks that move it are notorious for dumping their loads on the road and the police do not seem to enforce regulations requiring them to cover their loads. In the 8 years i have been here I have had to have the front of my cars resprayed and repaired 4 times due to this problem.

I'm so, so sorry that happen to you.. Like it has been mentioned, Luckily it was just the wheels and tires and not you. It seems to me that someone should be held liable with some others affected.

TBH That really surprises me.
As you know whitby - don't often get anything like that here. I work in association with the quarrying companies / construction. The HSE and SEPA etc come down on them like a ton of bricks if a lorry leaves the site uncovered. Woe betide any lorry driver that spills hisload from an uncoverd truck and gets reported!!

Have to agree with Brutal here......Roadside assistance for most marques is subcontracted.
I have an Audi and its the RAC who come out....they're pretty good I have to say. Its NOT the actual Marque that covers this so complaining about Jaguar in this instance isn't really doing any good.

Well, I do blame them!

They requested to use my phone to "pinpoint" my location and then proceeded to call wreckers TWO TIMES that were out of the area. One was over 50 miles away!!!! WTH happened to my "pinpoint" location????

Guess what????

I FINALLY got my car back today (9/21 from 8/29) from the collision shop (EXPRO in Houston). It seems the first wheels Jaguar shipped to the shop were bent so another was ordered. Four days later, the second wheel comes in and it, too, was bent. The third wheel took 6 days to get from Dallas and I finally got the car this afternoon.

The repair shop was great in handling this. I would almost bet that the Jaguar dealer would have given me the car back with the bent rim hoping I wouldn't notice the vibration. The repair shop guy could have done that but was very concerned about my impression of the place. He went the extra distance. He even offered to pay any of the rental car charges over what my insurance would cover because of the delays caused by getting bad wheels from Jaguar.

Man, after 3+ weeks of driving a Toyota Camry rental, I was about to take that car out and shoot it just to put it out of its misery. I don't understand why ANYONE would ever buy a car like that. The squirrels under the hood were fully flogged. No power and no looks - just four wheels with a weak 4 banger.

As far as the RA was concerned, the subcontractor that handles the RA in Houston sent me $25 as consolation. The intention was good but the amount was weak. For an $82k car, this problem should have been worth at least $100. How much of the price of the car is allocated to RA, anyway??
