Default Dash Cam Fuse/Wire Connections

Hello Chaps,
I've just popped in from the X308 area hoping one of you "modern" guys can help me out.

My Friend has a 2015 XF Diesel and needs two fuses or wires to piggy back onto for his dash cam. One needs to be permanent live and one needs to work with the ignition. Does anyone know of two he could tap into or use?

Thanks In Advance,
Stu.

When I had a 2010 XFR I used the aux power socket fuse as the "switched" and an "empty" socket as the battery live. I ran the cable down the A Pillar into the cabin fuse box., although I hear some folks were able to tap into wires in the headliner/courtesy light cluster. I can't recall the exact fuse numbers as they may have changed in the model years but the handbook should be able to confirm. You may also want to post over in jaginfo forum as they are predominantly UK based and may have more local experience to share.

I believe folks were able to tap into the rear view mirror which has switched power needed for a dashcam. If you search around this section you should be able to find discussion of is including which wire color to tap into - and how to open up the mirror!

I tried to get to the mirror connector on my XFR but I couldn't get close to it - maybe I needed to subcontract to child labour with smaller hands than mine but I gave up...

Thanks for the replies, I've sent my friend a link to this thread to see your replies. His car doesn't have an auto mirror however, it's got a manual one. Which I found to be a bit of a surprise to be honest. However I imagine the wiring may be there.

Thanks Again,
Stu.
