Next to the button on the trunk you use to open it is a hole plug that you can pull out (on the left of the trunk opening button, I think). Once that's out, you'll see a keyhole that you can use to open it.

Thank you for your quick response. I've tired the smart key as above. Inserting the in the keyhole. It just turns back and forth with opening the trunk. Are there any other ideas that I can get power to open the trunk?

Can you pull back on the rear seat back?..I think there is a release lanyard back there

\You may have to turn the key a little harder...It is not electrical in function..it should open it..Try Pushing down On the trunk lid while you turn it.

If you can open the hood, hook up a power source to a ground point and a suitable positive and open the trunk that way.

That is the only way I can think of in your situation.

There are also jumpers that can plug into the cig lighter.
I just opened mine with the key, and like DPK said, I had to push down on the trunk and really crank it to get it to release.

That's a good idea...I invested in one of these to save on the hassle of looking for something to hook on to under the hood.

So you guys think your cigarette lighter is connected to the 12 volt bus when the car is powered down? I suggest you try that out before you depend on it!

By just opening the door and plugging in, this shows that the Cigarette lighter socket is connected and powered up to the Car's 12v system...Car had been sitting for 12 hours prior to opening the door.

Zap...rather than throwing wet towels, check it out first before you speak again.

You should THINK before you post! Exactly what do you think pulls in the relay to connect the cigar lighter to the battery if the battery is dead??????

Pull your battery leads, lock all your keys in the trunk, then show me your picture!!!

Hopefully Jaguar did not change the XF from the S Type. You should have an emergency jump point in the front fender well on the passenger side of the car. Remove the wheel well liner to take a look. I have not had an XF to check this on yet.

Here is a picture from an Lincoln LS which is built on the same DEW98 platform.
