Hey all,
I'm excited to join all of you. I just put a deposit down on a 2012 XFR that is inbound from England. Looks like it'll be here about August 5th. I drove the 2011 and fell in love and wanted the better Nav unit that is in the 2012. Does anyone have any advice for when I get my car?
Speaking of the Nav, I didn't have a chance to hook my iPhone 4s up to it. I'm curious, does anyone here have a 2012 XF that has used it with their iPhone. I am a huge audiophile with tons of music. I'm concerned that the interface with my phone plugged in will suck. Any feedback on that?
Thanks all,
Colin

I synced my phone by bluetooth to one of the showroom XFs and it looked like the bluetooth isn't quite baked. It doesn't let you navigate your music from the touch screen. It only lets you continue playing the playlist or album that you were most recently listening to. Is that the experience you have had? The sales person said that with the cable the interface is "awesome" for navigating through your music but I didn't get to see it.
As for checking out the car, I will be VERY careful. I have never bought a car this fresh off the truck before.

Congratulations Colin! I want either an XFR or an F type (when it comes out) next. Unfortunately the engines are vastly different. I keep hoping they'll forget about the green thing and gas mileage and put a real engine in the F type. The sales rep actually said to me that the F type will get really good gas mileage. Good grief, I'd buy a Prius if I only wanted 350 HP and good gas mileage. (I'm exaggerating a little)
I have a 2012 XF and a 2012 MB E350. Neither are very iPhone/MP3 friendly. It might be that I haven't taken enough time to learn how to use it. I can scroll through the songs with the steering wheel selector, but it you have a lot of songs....... I choose a play list on the phone before connecting it to the car so I don't have to scroll through hundreds of songs. The voice commands are just not there for any type of MP3 device. If anyone can tell me if I'm missing something, I'd appreciate the help.

The bluetooth (in pre 2012 MY at least) only interfaces with the telephone. To play music you need to use the cable. Bluetooth is awful for music quality anyway, in my experience. With the cable it is great and you will love the B&W system in the XFR. Doesn't the 2012 MY have a hard drive storage for music? I have never had a problem in my 2011 XFR with the telephone/BT or the ipod cable connection - all works very nicely. I have had a play with the 2012 nav/system interface and it is a lot better than the previous version. Not massively quicker and not as nice as the latest MB units, but a step in the right direction.
My main advice is to sign up for the Jag performance academy - this is a free day of performance driving tuition given to all buyers of a new XFR. Well worth the effort - will help you get the maximum from your car. Hope you enjoy it! What spec (colours) have you gone for? There aren't many eqpt options really!

As long as I can select music by playlists and artists, I'm good to go and I'm sure that you can't do that through the blue tooth. Maybe I'll go into the show room with a cable and just try it.
As for the colors, it's the metallic black, with the piano black inside. It also has the red brake calipers.

First, Welcome an congrats to Csherman on the forthcoming car. Sound system using cable connect ipod is terrific in my 11 SC. However,
, the ipod has been working through the cable connection since I connected it
(about 2 weeks after i picked up the car, so two weeks now connected). It was working fine until this morning when the song tracks would not advance either from the steering wheel control or the arrow advance on the nav screen. I can only change by going through the playlist folder option. CD's still advance using either control. Not sure what has happened. I'll start another thread so as not to hijack this one for any solutions.
