DIC Info
Two questions about my DIC (if I'm allowed):
1. When my DIC (Driver Information Center) display is in AUTO for the mileage and MPG, what is the criterion for the calculation? That is, what triggers the recalculation of the MPG number? Is the MPG display for the last increment or is it for the entire trip since the last reset? What I mean is that when I drive to work, the final MPG is pretty decent. Is that the MPG for the entire trip or just for the last 500 feet?
2. When my DIC display is in A or B display mode, are the calculated numbers the total miles and TOTAL AVERAGE MPG since the last reset or are they just being updated as in #1 above without reset. If they are from the last reset then the display updates should be less and less frequent as the MPG would be more and more miles divided by more and more gallons.
3. When my DIC display is in AUTO and I push in the reset button, I get a message that the last trip information was added. Does anyone know the calculation being used for the MPG? You just can't average MPGs as they have to be calculated from the total miles and the total gallons.
Is anyone as confused about their DIC as I am about mine?

Display is average mpg since last reset of the odometer. Fuel total is cumulative and consumption rate will be deduced from the mixture demands processed by the ECU. Trip A and Trip B are separate averages unless you reset both at the same time. I use Trip A or mpg between fill ups and Trip B to record mileage accumulated between trips to the dealer! This dates fom my X Type ownership where Trip B barely exceedd Trip A!!!!
