Default DIY: Removing the GPS Antenna/Shark Fin

I'm going to be wrapping my roof panel in vinyl soon and wanted to share what I had found with the rest of the community for anyone else that may find it useful.

Step 1: Remove the interior lamp lens.

Step 2: Release the interior lamp.

Step 3: Release and disconnect the 2 electrical connectors. Remove the 2 nuts. Remove the reinforcement plate. Remove the global positioning sensor (GPS) antenna.

Old thread but thanks for this, I may have to do this soon. Question for anyone who may know - I can't find a used sharkfin in the colour to match our car (Polaris White). If I got the correct part in a different colour, can the internals be removed and swapped out or are they permanently bonded into the plastic of the unit itself?
