Does 2010 Jaguar XF need transmission fluid changed

Welcome to the forum Lscott56,
I've moved your question from XK8/XKR to X250 forum. This is the place to post questions about your model.
The experience and wisdom across the various model forums is a fluid change at 60/70k miles contributes to extended transmission life.
Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. It's a contentious issue on many forums (eg) BMW with cars that share the same gearbox as ours (ZF 6HP26) as for a long time the official line from ZF was that the gearboxes were sealed for life and didn't require fluid replacement. However, a lot of people (including me) felt this wasn't good advice - this thread is worth a read:
Since my engine is being rebuilt I was forced to drain and therefore replace the fluid, but I would've done it anyway. I assume the only reason not to would be to save money/time - the idea you could possibly see negative affects from draining and replacing with the correct fluid at 60-70k is asinine.
ZF has promoted lifetime service for many 5HP and 6HP factory filled transmissions. Lifetime is not clearly defined and each OEM manufacture has there own philosophy. ZF stands behind lifetime recommendation where listed in the vehicle operator’s manual. ZF engineered and tested our fluids to retain its characteristics through normal lifetime operating conditions. However, a spirited driving style, special environmental considerations and other individual driving factors may place higher than normal loads on transmission fluids. To assure proper operation it is advisable to perform a drain and fill at 100,000km/62,000 miles or eight years.

Here's my story:
We bought our '09 XF two years ago. My wife complained that occasionally while driving in town, the engine would race for a few seconds and she could smell something hot. It never happened to me, so I couldn't be sure what was happening.
When we took it to a foreign transmission specialist, he said that the tranny was two liters low on fluid (which he refilled). This might be alarming to other XF owners since there is no way of checking transmission fluid levels on our cars without taking a plug out that is very difficult to get to.
Since then, she says that it has still happened a couple times.
I can't be sure since it hasn't happened to me, but I suspect that she inadvertently hit the downshift paddle while turning which caused the high revs that sounded like the tranny slipping.
Maybe the tranny wasn't two liters low, but the tranny dudes needed a reason to charge $200 for the service. Or maybe it was two liters low and we all have a reason to worry.

Hey, speaking of transmissions, I had a "Gearbox Faulty" code come up on the dash when I started the car this morning, I cleared it but I beleieve my scanner said it was a B110AC ?? Any idea what would throw a code like this, only did it 1 other time and that was the first startup after being stored all Canadian Winter , would love to hear some thoughts and opinions, cheers.
