Given that J. D. Powers include whether or not you have the brains to use the controls in a car as part of the reliability ratings makes their ratings more than a little suspect.

I have a 2010 XF Premium and I love the car, but it has lots of small issues that give it 'character'. My previous car was a BMW 5 series (5 er for the cognoscenti) which was flawless in the faults, rattles etc. area. But it was a soulless car and did not have any of the 'character' of the Jag. In the end you have to examine the ratings systems and the criteria they use and decide whether they match yours. I know people who rate Lexus very highly simply because they are reliable and have 'nice' interiors. My priorities are how they drive and then whether they have 'nice' interiors. Lexus (why isn't the plural Lexi, but then that is Latin and not Japanese?) have exemplary fit and finish but are as soulless as the BMW without the driving capability. It all depends on what you want.

I believe Jag owners are willing to go out on a limb and have a different attitude to owning a car (you have to, given Jags recent history) and I, for one, give not a hoot about J. D. Powers.

My wife always knows when I like a car, I smile while driving her, and I do smile while driving my Jag.
