Default dome Light not coming on when opening door

Hi everyone,

I recently noticed that every-time a get in the car the dome lights (ambiant lights) don't light up. I have to physically touch the center light on the ceiling to open them.

Does anyone know why this is happening? Is this an option I need to set up? They were working a couple of days ago..

thanks,
Gab

Next time you get in the car, touch the center light and hold it for at least 2 seconds. Now try and see if it works. It may have accidently been turned off.

Default Great Solution

Just had the same issue with the overhead light. Came to the forum to research and surprised to find it was a current topic. The fix worked.

Thanks,
Jim

thank you! Thank you! Thank you! MY 2014 XJL interior lights and rear sun shade screen were dissabled some how at the same time, I thought "Electrical Gremlins" were starting to take over my beautiful car

The feature of turning off the interior lights by holding down for 2 seconds is to protect the battery when technicians are working on the car and require the door or doors to be open for a long time. Sometimes they forget to turn the auto on feature back on and that's when you notice your interior lights and puddle lights don't work.

Default 2011 XF Courtesy Lights

Hi all,
I have a similar issue with my courtesy lights. However I also keep blowing fuses for the courtesy lights. My local Auto elec has told me it is beyond his ability as he believe is is somehow linked in to the cars computer system which he has no access to. I would really like to try and nut this out myself if possible and avoid the local Jag dealers labour rates. If anyone has had a similar issue I would love to hear from them.

Many Thanks

Probably a short on one of the lights, I would start removing the bulbs one at a time until the fuse stops blowing, then you will know which light is causing the problem/short.

Thanks John,
I would never have thought a light globe could have caused such an issue. They are after all a form of fuse themselves. But I will definitely take a trip down this path to see what happens.

I had the same issue. I followed your advise and it worked thank you so much. I thought it was a fuse or electrical problem.

Default Still not working

Hi, I tried the center light thing and while I'm in the car it will work. I turn the car off get out lock the door. I'll wait 15 seconds and unlock the door and again the interior lights won't come on. Do I have a bigger issue here?
