Default Don't you love it when.............

………...a potential problem turn out to be something simple. This was the case recently when I noticed a sort of random high pitched squeaking /whining / whistling sound, coming from what seemed like the rear passenger side of my car. It was irregular, coming and going, and didn't seem to change with road speed or driving surface. Right or left hand turns didn't influence it in any way. So wheel bearing and differential was "ruled out". Then, thinking more laterally, I turned down the radio, thinking maybe it was interference coming through the speakers. No change. Then, going a little further outside the box, I closed my air vents on the dash and voila, the sound stopped. I opened the vents again and all is still quiet. Obviously just air whistling in via the vent and closing and opening them sorted it out. Happy camper!
Isn't it wonderful, but sometimes distracting, how we get used to all the familiar sounds and even the "feel" of how our cars drive. Anything outside the ordinary and the alarm bells ring!

one of the best feelings in the world when potentially huge issues end up being the smallest easiest thing in the world
