Due for my 30,000 Mile / 48,000 KM service

The oil for the 5.0 is 5W20. The 4.2 uses 5W30 conventional oil ( the design goes back to the late 80's). The fully synthetic 0W40 should work just fine. The W number is the critical one for engine wear. The summer number is mainly driven by fuel consumption issues nowadays. Using fully synthetic oil allows one to use a lower W and a higher summer number for older engines like the 4.2. Using these in the newest engines would void your warranty and could damage the engine.. No problem for the dinosaur V8 in our older cars.

This is true, but for 4yrs/50,000 miles. They call it their "Platinum Coverage" Also includes 24/7 roadside assistance. Not sure what year this program started, possibly 2010. We had a 2009 XF supercharged and it did not include this. We paid about 600.00 dollars for the 30,000 mile service on that one. This program is part of why we didn't mind trading for a 2012 xfr. Figured all the services for 4 years was worth over a grand easy.
