Electric Exhaust Cutouts

Electric Exhaust Cutouts
I really like the look/sound of the Mina Gallery exhaust. I wonder how much more hp is gained by electric cut outs vs Mina? I also like that with cuts outs the car is only loud when I want. I was thinking of a 3 way switch for the cut outs. OFF/WOT/ON in the middle position I would need a micro switch that is engaged on wide open throttle.
Does anyone have electric cut outs on their XF?
Where did you put them in the exhaust system, I'm thinking before the rear axle?
What brand did you use?
Cost should be the same as Mina exhaust 4 welds at a shop + 2 cut outs and a relay.

No regrets at all as like you say you can turn off the sound when you want. Placement is good and wiring easy.
I got the VMK 10-250 and brought the tips from a retailer. Everything is set up so I can re-install the stock system in about 30 minutes.

If you guys want to add some more roar you may want to get 200 cell cats like Mike V:

1) I'd always heard that doing anything to the exhaust from behind the cats (catback) didn't really have the potential to affect the warranty. And, being that my car is a 2011 with only 10K miles and quite a bit of warranty remaining, I'm hesitant to upgrade the cats because of the potential for any issues with the dealership if anything ever went wrong with the engine, etc. Even if the cats weren't responsible (and I realize they'd have to prove it, etc.), I'd be worried Jaguar would try to go that route to protect themselves and I guess I'd rather raise as few red flags as possible. I'm not trying to start yet another debate regarding what voids warranties, the burden of proof, etc., I'm just stating that upgraded cats having what I understand to be more significant potential to void the warranty has been one of my concerns (valid or not).
2) I think I'd like the additional growl of the hi-flow cats when my cutouts were open, which is 99.9% of the time. But, one of the reasons I went the route of cutouts on my XFR, after doing an always open exhaust on my '09 XFS, was so I could go from louder to stock quiet, whenever the need arose. And, I'm afraid the hi-flow cats would make my car significantly louder even with the cutouts closed. If so, that would sort of defeat the purpose of a cutout system. But, if the added growl of hi-flow cats wasn't too loud with the cutouts closed (very subjective, I understand), I'd probably give them a shot. I guess the only way to know for sure is to try it, but it would be a several hundred dollar experiment.
I realize my concerns may be semi-nebulous generalities, but without the benefit of facts for my particular situation, speculation seems to be all I have to go on. I'd appreciate any thoughts on the affect of hi-flow cats on warranties and the affect of hi-flow cats on an otherwise stock exhaust system (sound or otherwise). Thanks.

Well...
Switching back to the stock cats if anything did go wrong is easy enough but since you're probably servicing your car at Jaguar to maintain your warranty you would have to switch them out every time you went in for a service and that would be too much of a hassle IMHO.
And yes you would have a permanently increased volume but on the same hand it would really roar with the cut outs open I gues that would depend on if you liked the added volume on the closed side and most likely "Wake the neighborhood" when open.
P.S. Your ride looks AWESOME! Well done!

I would not expect much more noise from hi flow to stock cats unless the material is thinner. I also think you could leave them on when you take your car to the dealership SEMA takes great lengths to keep you from facing a voided warranty that being said back in 2004 Tempe Dodge claimed they voided my warranty on my 2004 Dodge Ram because I had lowered it 2" in the front and 4" in the rear. Still tall enough to run 305/40/18 Toyos on the street and 325/40/17 M&H racemasters at the track.
My Infiniti service advisor looked the other way on the modest exhaust and intake modifications I performed. Even gave me a free Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor replacement after I had been off warranty for 10k miles.
I always make sure I find a cool service advisor and take care of them they take care of me.
