Electrical gremlins and strange engine sound start up - Help!
Hello all.
I have a 2010 XFR, V8 5.0 SC. Low mileage.
First issue, and most important is that the car has developed a very strange sound when pressing the ignition, almost struggling to come on. I have attached a recording of when I press ignition which I think highlights it well. Is the starter motor on the blink perhaps?
Second issue is electrical gremlins, particularly warnings every now and then on the drivers console screen, always after starting up. Typical warning is blind spot monitor not available, but now and then I also get some others at the same time like Adapative Dynamics Fault and an E-Diff one. The only correlation to when these occur is when the car has been out in the sun and warmed up. Bearing in mind ambient temperature where I am at the moment is 40-45 deg c so the car gets really hot if in direct sunlight for long as it is black.
Thirdly, is the drivers side reading light randomly comes on and off which is most annoying, especially driving at night. Any hints on these issues?
Service centre out here (Oman) are not known to be the most qualified so if I have some ideas in hand with which to guide them to solving the problems would be most helpful!
Cheers

Reading light fault is known. Assuming you're not accidentally triggering it when reaching for the rear view mirror (don't laugh, some of us have discovered this "fault" ) then a new unit is the fix.
I agree the battery should be properly tested, either load tested or with one of the fancy new digital testers.
