Still puzzled what is wrong with this motor so have prepped another one and I'll investigate original over the winter.

This is steam 😁 but I did have the PCV problem you described on my Range Rover.

Just curious. Where and how did you connect the lifting chains at the engine ?
Especially in the front I could not remember of any solide part to fix the chain.

So far so good, had to reprogram the replacement transmission, had me worried for a while.

I wrap a chain around the crank pulley between the two belts.
