Eurocharged ECU tune and pulley combo

What size Pulley
All,
OK, I have read miles of posts about the pulley/tune mod. One thing I don't see is a definitive pulley size to use...
Eurocharged sells 1.5 lb boost, Mina too, but I also see some of the dyno runs have a 2.5 or even 3 lb pulley.
So, my guestion is if 1.5 is good is 2.5 Better?

I get that, but I have also not seen the HP differences in the 1.5 to 2.5 pulley... I guess I will call Eurocharged on Monday and see what they recommend.

I heard somewhere that Mina's pulley is rated on the site at 1.5 but is more like 1.7 I have never called to confirm. I'm in the same boat as you, I want pulley and tune just so many options.

This is not scientific and I'm not an expert so feel free to correct if I am wrong. From what I've been able to gather the 1.5 lb pulley is the limit to what is easy and safe.
Going to a pulley smaller than that is possible, but you'd need to add water/methanol injection to get more power and overcome the additional heat that the friction of the blades creates on the oncoming charge.
I'm stretching my knowledge with this but I believe that the size and type of supercharger limits what boost is possible without additional modifications.

1.5 or 2.5
See post #64 in this thread...
If i'm not mistaken, both Mina and Eurocharged, along with many others show a 1.5 Pulley for sale.... Usually around $150 to $300
I don't recall anyone showing a 2.5 for sale.. (I may be wrong as I have been reading for days and my brain is scrambled on all the information and mis-information out there)
However, the dyno chart on post #64 notes a 2.5 lb pulley. Same chart on the Eurocharged website.
The website lists the pulley as 1.5 but the dyno chart states 2.5
I will make a call to them Monday....

From what I have been told from a UK tuner that sells pulleys various cooling upgrades for the 4.2L SC. The 4.2L SC in the earlier cars (pre 2009 non XF cars) had issues with cooling when the 2.5 pulley was used. The XF has upgraded intercoolers so it can handle the extra heat generated by the 2.5 pulley without any issues. I'm not sure about the 5L SC cars.
I'd bet the only reason the 2.5 pulley isn't shown on some sites is because it requires the user to shave the snout down. Not all users will know how to do it and they may not want to be liable for issues the user may have when they do it incorrectly.
Edit: The info I'm quoting above came from the person who runs this shop in the UK. He sells cooling upgrades for the older cars to combat the extra heat that the older cars can see with the 2.5 pulley. http://www.powerhouseautomotive.co.u...er-pulleys.php

The 2.5lb on the dyno chart they show on the web site was "not our pulley."
My intention is to proceed with the pulley/tune soon. I will dyno the car before and after. Have not decided on exhaust options yet....
1. Mina mufflers, remain stock forward of that.
2. Mina mufflers, remove resonators and add crossover.
3. leave it stock for now...do more research
WOW, just found this... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...st-done-90460/ more reading to do... Thanks guys!

I'm going with the 1.5 for me as the car is still under Jag warranty for one year and CPO warranty to 2017. I'm going to play it risky/safe

If you are interested in the Arden exhaust, another forum member has one for sale. He uses his car everyday and it was too aggressive for him to use the Bluetooth and still hear clients on the phone.
He's willing to take a haircut to move it. Haven't spoken with him about it for a while though. Do you want me to see what he will accept?

Eurocharged Pulley and Tune
I installed the 1.5lb Eurocharged pulley last weekend, and installed their tune tonight with Phil. Both Jerry and Phil have been great to work with. The install went very smooth, they sent the ODBII tool, downloaded the tune through my laptop to the car while they are in Houston and I am in my home garage in Virginia. The tune with pulley produces 612hp (510rwhp) and respective torque numbers of 600/500rw. (I don't have dyno results and don't intend to; these are the expected gains from Eurocharged) I am impressed, results are better than expected, throttle response is instantaneous and very little is needed to move the car. Jerry provided a custom tweak to the tune and leaned it a bit (less fuel, more air) as I requested in the hopes of improving the highway fuel economy. I've only driven 10 miles thus far so I have no idea how much fuel economy will improve. Again, the tune totally wakes up the car. If a speed shop could increase horsepower in a normally aspirated engine from 470 to 612 (142hp gain) for the cost of the pulley and tune ($750), they would do it all day long.

I made a deal with Velocity AP for the complete system...
I am now in the process of:
K&N Filters, stock box
TCP Intake mod - (Tubes & Silicone)
Full exhaust with high flow cats, X-pipe, resonator delete.
Supersport Exhaust Mufflers
Supercharger 1.5 pulley & ECU Tune
Should be a beast when finished...
