Default EZ Lip Installed

When I ordered my R-Style carbon fiber (not plastic like the Jag OEM) rear valance and diffuser from Mina Gallery (which is getting delivered and hopefully installed today), Chris said they're considering making a front splitter for the XF. But, while I waited for that, I went ahead and dropped $30 online (shipped) on an EZ Lip. It's made from EPDM rubber, which was originally made for use as a pond liner, but is now used for lots of applications, including commercial roofing sheets which last 50+ years (I used to manage the SE for a commercial roofing company). Anyway, the black plastic protective under tray on the XF made it a little tough to adhere it with the pre-installed 3M auto tape around the side edges, so I reinforced it with a few screws/washers and some clips on the inside lip edge. I'll see how it holds up to the elements, high speeds, the odd curb, etc. But, for $30, I thought it was definitely worth the gamble. Initially, I really like the black contrast, but wish maybe I'd pulled it a little further forward in the middle. But, hell, if I don't it like later, I'll peel it right off. Enough words, here are some pix of it installed...

I have to say, usually i am not a fan, cause it makes the car look cheap, but you have pulled it off nicely. It compliments the black touches on the rest of the car.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll get a bunch of responses saying how cheap it looks, but that's OK. Either way, I'm still not 100% committed to it, but I like experimenting with stuff. Plus, I thought it might also help any other XF owners who were ever considering something like that by seeing how it would look.

I think you did a good job, and it does add to the black and white visual effect that you have going on. The add protection is also a plus.. How long have you had it installed and have you seen any benefits with it? i.e. High or uneven curbs?

Just installed it today. Nothing special to report, thus far. The Mina Gallery rear diffuser was delivered, so working on that... the stock rear piece is already off.

Waiting on pics... factory rear cheapens the look IMHO. Would this fit the "09 S/C?

Couple things. First, and this can't be overstated: your car looks awesome. I drive a black 2010 xfr and it's rare that I ever get car envy at all, but yours makes me drool. Something about the black accents make it really look great. Gonna go kick my bumper and spit on my hood cuz now I hate mine. Second, how and where did you get the "R" badge on the grille. I thought that was a 2012 addition. I'd love to add that touch to mine. Congrats again on the great looking car.

Looks great. Wait until you see my beast. Where did you get the black hood louvers. Or did you have the stock ones painted?

Thanks for all of the feedback. Sorry I've been delayed in responding. In addition to all of my other time-consuming "priorities," I tackled the Mina carbon fiber diffuser this weekend, which is better suited for a thorough write-up in a separate thread. But, here are a few quick pix...

Call Mina Gallery re: fitting the '09 XFS, but I don't see why it wouldn't.

Thanks. I popped out the hood louvers and used Plastidip to coat them, which carries no risk as the stuff can peel right off if needed. However, mine have held up perfectly for 6 months with zero issues (even with hand car washes, bad weather, and people poking at them). I also used Plastidip on the rear Jag leaper (I took the leaper off the car, coated it, then reapplied it), but I also added a few coats of gloss on top of the leaper, also with zero issues.

Wow, love the look!

I did a little bit of searching and found the same product from a company called QwikLip... went ahead and ordered it from www.qwiklip.com for my 2011 XF...can't beat it for $27.99 shipped!

Yep, that looks identical. Well, actually, at 8' long, it's 6" longer than the EZ Lip version (which was still plenty long - had about 6" on each side of additional material). As long as the company is using EPDM and 3M tape, I think it should it should do well. Mine's only been on a few weeks, but so far, so good.
