Default Fan continuously runs

I have a 2010 XF that I recently installed a new thermostat on. Now when I'm driving and come to a stop the fan runs continuously. When I shut the engine off the fan stops

When you say you recently installed, do you mean you personally worked on the car, or you personally paid someone to install it? Lots of people are very lose with that phrase.

If you did it, did you make sure you reconnected all of the electrical connectors? Its possible you bought a faulty replacement part.

On previous cars I've owned, this can be caused by disconnecting the coolant temperature sensor - if the ECU sees no output (or a strange output) from the coolant temperature sensor, it will run the fans continuously as a fail-safe.

As lotusespritse says, it's likely an electrical connector at fault, but the installer should sort it. Hopefully just a case of plugging a connector back on.
