Default Finally selling my 2011 Jaguar XFR

After six years of happy and near trouble free ownership, the time has come to finally sell my 2011 XFR. I can say without a doubt that this has been the best vehicle I've owned and it is hugely unfortunate that a comparable replacement really does not exist. Though I would love to stay in a vehicle around the same size as the XFR, it seems the current offerings from both Jaguar and other manufacturers come with compromises with which I cannot reconcile. As such, I have turned my attention back to more dedicated sports cars as a bit of a change of pace. I am hoping to remain an active member on this forum as my primary consideration for replacing the XFR is either an F-Type R or F-Type SVR.

Please refer to my listing the the classified section of this forum if any of you may have interest in taking ownership or may know of someone who would like to take ownership of my XFR.

I just sold my 2011 XF Premium for $10k in cash. It had 77k miles, but also had accident history thanks to a sideswipe cause by a bozo not paying attention.

Even with a lot more miles, I don’t think you should have trouble getting 11k, but it has to be from someone that hasn’t done their homework on timing chains. Unless you’ve done the chains on your car already? If not, it will be an unwelcome surprise for the new owner.

I am one of the fortunate ones who haven't any issues with the timing chain and timing chain tensioners. My service records will indicate an LOF with the OEM oil/filter every 5,000 to 7,500 miles or so and during these changes I am always asking the tech to check for metal shavings in my oil. Thankfully, observations for my oil have always come back clean! There is also no audible indication of the chain slapping around due to a worn tensioner.

Though the service intervals prescribed by JLR ask for 15,000 mile intervals, I cut them in half just for peace of mind on my end. Overkill is always better than deferring maintenance and I am sure you'll agree the small amount of cost associated with this mentality pays dividends long term.

Thanks for the comment!

I do the oil change more frequently too, but oil changes are not the issue. The metal is being deformed, not worn away. Clean or dirty oil won’t change that.

It’s just a matter of time before all these engines will need timing chain work, and yours is a lot closer to needing it at that mileage.

So a new owner could buy you car and it’s reasonable to expect in a year they’ll be facing a bill of $5-11k (depending on the shop they choose) to fix the timing chains.

But don’t worry, only a very small percentage of the potential buyers are on these forums. The dealers know, which is why they only offered me $6k for trade in.

Good luck with the sale. Gives me hope for my 2010 SC still at half that mileage.
Yours looks in terrific condition.

Get the SVR. I did it this summer and don't regret it! Kept the XF as well as I need rear seats with the family
