Default Front Grille replacement

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a front grille replacement on my '13 XF. Currently I have the all chrome version. Just do not like it. Have looked at the various "paint" options and do not feel comfortable that method will last. My plan is to go with the black mesh/Chrome frame version.

My dealer wants $161 to do the work. I just need to supply the part. So far, I have found the guy on Ebay that has several in England. His price is Ok but he is gouging on the shipping ($90GBP). Also looked at the Direct JPLV Porsche Parts.com they have a good price as well.

Anyone else have any ideas of where I can get the part for less?

Grapeman,
What did you end up going with on your purchase? I am looking to replace mine as well... I am looking for the black mesh with chrome border. Appreciate any help. Thanks!

Check out Mina gallery if you don't want to paint / plastidip the grille yourself. I believe their black grille is cheaper than the oem version.

Mina does not seem to have grille replacements for 2012+ models. I, too, would like to find black grille with chrome border fro my 2013. Anyone?

Have you tried calling them? They have products in stock that aren't listed on their site

I sent them an email yesterday as well. Here is there reply: "These items are not yet available, but we hope to have them listed in the coming month (both the grilles and the chrome splitters). Note: I had asked about a solution for chrome blade as I am not a huge fan of it. Hope this helps.

Brnsms2,
I bought a used one and had the dealer install it. Definitely like the looks of a black grill over the chrome. Due to the fact the front bumper needs to come off, and plastic connectors, the dealer tech ending up breaking the mount on one of the parking sensors. The sensor would pop out, inside the bumper not outside the car, after a few miles. Had to go back twice to get the parking sensor fixed.

Look on ebay. There is usually a guy from England selling grills. I would stay away from the ones coming out of china.

Bought mine from Mina. I put it in myself, but if my dealer was only going to charge $160, I would have them do it. My dealer told me it would be 2-3 hours. It took me 1 hour with a lift. It was a little bit of a pain in the *** to get the old grille out.

I just saw a newer XJ in white and had the matching white surround bezel and black grille.

I now want a matching painted bezel and black grille. Stock chrome over here.

Mina take my moneyyyyy!

Grapeman- you are correct in thinking the longevity of painting the grill will only net short-term results. I gave it a go and was pleased with the results until I noticed road grit essentially sandblasts the paint. I can see chrome pin points breaking through the black paint. I used a wax/degreaser, bond promoter and multiple light coats of paint. I suspect only an automotive grade paint is up to the task. Mina, here I come....

That's the exact reason why I went the Plastidip route. I have had not a single rock chip or scrape in 6 months since I have done it....debris just "bounces" off of the dip.

I have my original chrome grille I am willing to sell if someone wants to experiment. I replaced the original with an oem black/chrome I bought from a member here. The black/chrome looks good on my ebony black '11.

I have a new in box grille with the black center and chrome trim from Mina. Sold the car before I put it on. Definitely agree that it looks better with the black center.
