Thought I would update the forum on an issue I am having with the fuel gauge on my XF. Basically, the gauge has been only showing about 1/3 full right after I filled tank. As I used the fuel, the guage would pretty much stay at that level and the range indicator would fluctuate between 71-97 miles to empty. Each day upon restart, the guage would reflect something slightly higher than from shut down the day before.

I took the car into the dealer last week. They initially thought it could be something in the instrument cluster. They came back and alleged it was the fuel sender. They have since updated me that they are replacing the fuel tank. Still under warranty so not a big deal but I thought it was just crazy that such a seemingly minor issue needed such a significant change to resolve.

Anyone else experienced similar issues?

 

Exact same thing happened with my '11 XFR. They replaced the fuel tank and filler, which also conveniently rectified the filling issues that I was having where the pump clicked off continuously during fillup.

Anyone with a '10 or '11 might want to check to see if they finally got a recall going on those, or at least bring up the issue with their service tech.
