Full Tesla Screen In XF Facelift

Finally Fitted
I have finally finished fitting the Tesla style android head unit to my 2014 XF after so many fitment problems due to the seller having sent me a left hand drive version for my RHD XF, you would think they would know that the UK is RHD but they obviously don't care. As it was sitting in my home for a year before fitting I couldn't send it back so I just had to crack on and do the best I could.
I had to remove all of the bolt holes and fitments from the right hand side of the head unit frame to fit next to my steering wheel and dashboard trim then I was left with a messy looking end and on the left the head unit facia tapers in as on the LHD cars it tucks in to the steering column.
I ended up designing and printing out a couple of black trims to finish the end by the steering column and the join to the original dash facia but now I think it looks pretty good at least it's tidy and mostly works well.
I also had a lot of problems making a new lower trim as the supplied one was a mirror image of my one so I had to mess a lot with making those, I wrapped them in 6D carbon fibre but the weather is so warm ATM that it kept coming loose when in the car so I need to re-wrap those once the weather cools down again.
Here you can see the trims that I made to finish the end on the right and the joint on the left. Also I had to make new trims for the lower part that usually goes right across under the facia, the one supplied was a mirror of what I needed so I used 2 full trims and managed to cut the parts needed with a little finishing of the ends as one was open.
I made this as the original centre consul USB didn't work after fitting the new head unit so this uses a USB hub and card reader which I simply connected to one of the head units USB cables. Works brilliantly

I've noticed that my CANBUS file is for 2009 onwards not sure if it should be for 2012 onwards for the facelift models , maybe you could check which version yours has ?
Also if your AllAppUpdate.bin and config.txt files are for the same specification model as mine (4G/64G) I'm wondering if that would work better than the original files from my unit ?
Thanks for the help

I managed to work out the problems with the bits not working, I chan ged the vehicle model and year and then rebooted and now all is working, the old firmware didn't have 2013 XF but after updating I found it as an option
Just took it all back out again to add a DAB+ unit and a cable for a subwoofer, I'm also wrapping it all in black 6D carbon fibre as the silver just looks cheap.

Do you mean the 360˚ cameras ?
How did you import those oil and water temp' gauges to the Home Screen, been trying to find out how ?
I couldn't get any DAB stations when using an amplified splitter on the main aerial, I think the UK frequencies might be different, do you know which of the original aerials at the head unit end is for DAB ? might be able to use that, I did try the one thats joined in the same block with the main FM aerial but that didn't work either. I don't fancy using the crappy aerials that come with the USB DAB unit but might have too if I can't get a main aerial to work

This is old video I did for 360-Degree Surround cameras,

This weekend I'll have a video for temp / voltage/air
The hole nine yards

I never realised that was you in the videos, one of yours helped me a lot with the wiring on fitting my head unit
Your wife is great in your how to videos, she asks some of what I'm shouting at my screen as the video goes on, lol.
I checked my head unit and from what I have read on different forums I don't think my one supports the 360˚ camera sets.
The unit needs to have the hardware to support it so I read and if it does it will have an app sitting in the allappupdate.bin file which mine doesn't have.
Is that correct from your experience ?
Thanks Dennis

you can add 360 degree set up on any screen, ,you dont need a special app ,hares some understanding on how the inputs work on my x-type

Thanks again Dennis,
I will need to find the 360˚ type that has its own controller, the ones I have seen use a controller built into the head unit which are what I had read about and only some head units have it.

You can run the app that comes with the screen, but I put a button on my console, if you want to turn it on,additionally if you hit the hazzard button the screen cones up ,naturally when you go in reverse you don't need to hit any buttons ,just go in reverse and the birdseye view comes on, I have a new 360 4d they sent me to try and I'll make a video on it

Is this the type of kit you are talking about ? although I'm not at all sure on what 4D and 5D are about, lol.
