Gear Selector DTC P0850
Hi All.
The Gear selector got stuck up today on my 2008 XF 2.7d. It started when I pulled into a car park and sat with the engine running for a few min. The "Gearbox Fault" came up on the dash. When I turned the engine off, the selector stayed up and it wouldn't start, saying it wasn't in Park.
I called the RAC who came and found the fault code P0850 - Park / Neutral Switch Open Circuit.
He tried clearing the codes but it came coming back. After fiddling about for a bit, he disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. when he re-connected, it sorted its self out.
Its running fine now - but for how long???
Is this a simple case of replace the selector unit?
Will one from a face lift model (2011 - 2014) fit?
The car has had a new battery from Jaguar and new brake pedal switch at the end of January. I drive between 20 and 100 miles daily so should be plenty of charge running through.
On Saturday I was driving and got "Gearbox Fault", "DSC Fault" and "Park Brake Fault". When I got home I tried disconnecting the battery but that only succeeded in getting the park brake stuck on. The RAC attended and cleared the fault codes (lots including P0850)and all was fine until today.
Any advice and suggestions greatly received and appreciated.
Love this car but it drives me insane!!!!!!
