Default Gear Shift Position Fault

I have a 2010 XF with 150,000 miles. Periodically getting a P0919 gear shift position fault code setting the MIL. Does not cause any problems and goes off after a period of time. Kind of annoying though. Has anyone had this issue? Is the the only fix replacing the shifter module. It is approximately $ 600.00

Looking at the Autoenginuity Gear shift module display. It looks like there are four redundant position sensors that provide an angular displacement to the module. I assume that none of the items are serviceable

I've only heard of the dealer replacing the whole unit.

Back when mine was replaced under warranty I was told the failure was due to cold solder joints on the circuit board in the shifter mechanism. I'd think that could easily be fixed for free if you knew how to use a solder iron.

There are a few listed on ebay for about $450 but you'd have to do your homework to see if it's the updated design. I was told the updated version was the same thing but they sourced it from another supplier.
