Getting Dorman TPM (S)ensors to work on the XF(R)
So I got tired of having my Nevis rims straightened at $125 a shot every few months and bought a set of forged rims for my XFR, Not wanting to spend $400 at Jag for 4 factory TPM sensors, I went on rhyms with FleeBay and got new a set of 4 Dorman direct fit sensors for $100 to mount in the new rims. Well they are not quite a direct fit electronically..lol
The fact is they still need to be "cloned" by a Dorman friendly TPMS scanner..WT? otherwise your XF info center will show a TPMS fault CONTINUOUSLY!
first what I recommend is the next time you have a tire off the rim have the tech remove the TPMS sensor and let you take a picture of it,
My TPM(S)ensor
What you want to get is the ID#. This number can be used to clone a new sensor(s) while the new sensor(s) is already mounted in the tire with some late model scanners.
OF NOTE, you only need the ID number off 1 sensor to clone all 4 corners as the sensors ID's are all the same on each vehicle from the factory, and the cars computer assigns the correct corner to each sensor.
The best way to do Jags (besides factory) is to clone a good sensor which can be done even if the ID numbers don't match, If you have no faults or you know the sensor is good and it worked fine on the car (as my old sensors did), this type of cloning is what I had to do with my new sensors already in the tires, and on the car.
It took me several tries with different tire shops since most of the chain tire stores use proprietary scanners and sensors, finally Buds Tire an independent dealer here in Riverside was able to clone my factory TPMS to their scanner then go to each corner and clone all the Dorman sensors FOR FREE, The dealer wanted $200. I cleared the TPMS fault with my higher level scanner (If all is good, just driving will clear it) and it hasn't come back in 60mi of driving.
With the first gen XF's getting close to 10 yrs old I'm sure this will be a more common issue, hope this helps.

The Dorman sensors just would not work, bought a new set of Jag sensors on Ebay for $133, all is well.
Dorman sensors $105
Install in tires $80
Dorman TPMS tool $60
Remove Dorman sensors and install new factory sensors $80
trying to save a $1 sure cost me $10..lol
