Good deal?
Hi everyone,
I put a deposit down on a 2009 XF Diesel S Portfolio last week and i'm going to be collecting it today. I live in England and an quite fortunate to be getting a car of this calibre as i'm only 25 The total price was £31,000. I understand XF S Portfolios are around £45.5k OTR? The reason for the early depreciation after just 1 year is because the car has 36k miles on it. I was told that a business manager owned it previously and the only conclusion I can draw from that is that the vast majority of that HAD to be motorway miles? Furthermore, would I be reasonably safe to assume that because it's done a lot of motorway miles that the engine should have been used calmly/responsibly and not ragged to hell as it was owned by a 49 year old business manager? :P
I second guessed myself a lot before buying it as I thought this was a deal that shouldnt be missed! I'm hoping no one is going to tell me now that i've made a mistake! I was originally looking at a Diesel Luxury for only £4,000 less so when I saw an S Portofolio I jumped at it. I've got an issue with my iPhone 3GS not charging and i've posted in the relevant thread about that...hopefully the Schosche car adapter will fix it, if not, guess i'm going to buy an old Nano to leave in the car
I've attached a couple of pics if anyone's interested. Thanks

Welcome, Portfolio is the highest level of luxury for XF models and I reckon only available in diesel versions . What even amazes me Diesel S versions faster than their sibling gasoline engines and I don't even tell ya how great mileage you will be getting in such a modern powerful engine

Hehe, thanks guys. Well had a 3 hour motorway drive back home with it and have absolutely zero complaints. Tried a hard accelerate oce or twice using the paddles and it was quite quick although to be honest not as quick as I remember when it was test drove. Maybe that was in Sport mode then.
Which means an incredibly simple question must now follow... In order to achieve the 0-60 in 5.9 (or get as close to), which settings must be active in order to achieve that? Does the TracDSC need to be used with Sport mode and manual shifting?
Many thanks
