Default Got a quote for the rear suspension to be done

I noticed a bump in the rear end last week before getting the car serviced, I have only owned it for a month now so I have been getting the car up to specs. while it is still under the dealership's 3 mths warranty. To their credit within 2 weeks of owning the car, I had a new A/C Compressor fitted and paid $1.300.00 AUD by the dealership who was fantastic about the issue and did not argue about the cost. ( unusual as they normally want a second hand or rebuilt parts. ) At the same time, we noted the rear suspension needed most of the bushes done so over the last week or so I have been to and through, getting quotes for the dealership who was a bit reluctant to want to pay for this as it is a huge and expensive job. But as they come to the conclusion that you cant get aftermarket parts here for the Jag and seen that even buying them from eBay they were no cheaper after paying freight from overseas. Along with the mechanics I use would not warrant any parts from eBay saying even if you get the correct parts they may not fit. So here is the quote and work to be done. Full credit to the dealership for coughing up and paying for this as the car is second hand and 6 years old. I don't think they would have made any money out of the deal now as being wholesalers their profit margins would not have been much more than the $5,436.50 they have spent so far. I consider my self to be very lucky this has been covered by them.

Hi Geoff, I also am considering some suspension updates, yet will likely go down the bushes replacement (Rubber to Poly) avenue. I still reckon that with procuring your own parts and finding a Jag specialist you should come under the dealers quote.

Hi Nansan,
The parts funny enough are OME out of Melbourne and have been ordered yesterday by the guys doing the work for me on behalf of the dealer who is paying for it. So I would expect the bushes to be rubber as they are a complete unit from Jaguar and being OME. I can't see them having anything other than rubber bushes. I don't care as they will last at least another 10 years with me not doing the big klms. No one wanted to do the Poly bushes and press them in here in Newcastle, the very reason we have gone down the path of whole wishbones as complete units, etc. I did give the dealership the option if they could find anyone to do the job cheaper and also just buy bushes but they had no luck. Plus the distance is an issue for both of us they are on the Gold Coast and I am in Newcastle.

Hope it all goes well and look forward to hearing of the transformation on how the car drives and handles

To be honest I don't expect much difference other than no clunking noise from the worn bushes that are there now.

How things change all the parts were in stock 1.5 weeks ago with a two day delivery to my workshop they ordered the parts on Friday last week so I called today being Wednesday hoping the parts would be there only to find that one part was sold between the time of the inquiry and the order being placed. So now they have to get the part I need from over seas and that would be every who makes or su[pplies the original jag suspension. My concern now ifs the workshop also told me they had a part arrive for another customer in Melbourne through the supplier and our customs sent it back to the country where it came from saying with the coronavirus they would not except it. If my part gets here and passed through the customer it will be around 3 weeks. Meanwhile, no work can begin on my car till it arrives. From what I understand it is the left side lower control arm. Sad when you think about this as it is humans that can be affected by the virus not parts of cars.. Fingers crossed that I don't get caught out because the government is suspending all air travel for 3 mths.I am hoping that only applies to human freight.
