I've ordered one of the JLT kits, which are used on Supercharged Mustangs and Raptors, etc...one of the black coloured ones.

The kits are designed to be plug-n-play on the Fords, so will need some adaption of the hoses for the Jag.

Like this one FORD RAPTOR FORUM - Ford SVT Raptor Forums - Ford Raptor - View Single Post - New JLT Whipple/Roush SC Specific Oil Separator

I like that these have been used on supercharged V8's already. JgaXkr also fitted a "Mustang" one to his XKR so that's good enough for me.

In regards to relocating the PCV valve, still looking but I found a few that will fit, just not sure about the function i.e. flow capability and will function as a check valve properly. Ideally need to find one that's been used on a boosted engine of similar capacity i.e. supercharged Mustang, or a larger turbo engine like Supra / Nissan GTR six-cylinders.

I found a Toyota inline one that is apparently used on the 2JZ-GTE powered Supra, p/n 12204-46020

At $20 it's a steal compared to the $100 i've just paid for a genuine Jag one here locally. But there is still the issue of a custom fitting to go in the valve cover...

For a fitting at the valve cover, you might consider a bulkhead fitting with barb or AN threaded.

Screw on retaining nut so there is no alteration to the valve cover at all.

Great project!

I am hoping someone does one of these on a 5.0 s/c engine soon.

The only reason I can see that these didn't come on the cars is cost. Reminds me of using plastic cam chain tensioners, water lines and cam covers. Not strictly necessary for oil separators to be there, but adding them is an improvement on what we got from the factory.

I doubt I will find an off-the-shelf fitting with the correct OD with o-rings, and that has a suitable barbed fitting at a right angle. I'd like to steer clear of AN fittings, they are physically quite big, not to mention $$$...

There's a machine shop not far from here that can make me up a fitting, just machine it from a solid block of HDPE.

Here's where it needs to go;

I'd still use a plate to hold it in place on the two threaded bosses there.

I don't have a 5.0L here in front of me, but looking in the parts catalog the crankcase breather pipe is very simple, would not be too hard to just cut it and put a catchcan in. I could not see a listing for the PCV valve on the 5.0L, so it's either non-serviceable, or it's inline with the a hose as a single piece. I guess the hardest part is finding space to put it?

Yep, there is no space at all, I spent the last 1/2 hour poking around my engine bay and couldn't find anywhere to mount a thimble let alone a catch can!

No space under the scuttle near the brake booster?

A lot of the Mustang ones just hang in mid-air...

thanks for looking at the schematic on the 5.0. I am sure there is room under the cover somewhere.

These "oil separators" are about the size of a beer can, there must be somewhere to put it on the five-o.

Red arrow is PCV line, this is where you need to put the catch can inline

Would it not fit where the green arrow is pointing?

Cambo, I've got an machined aluminum fitting like you are looking for. Will be a couple weeks before get back home to take a picture but you are welcome to it for shipping cost. I had it made for similar reasons to yours but the catch can valve made a racket and I ended up putting the original back. All you would need to add are the O-rings. Drop me a PM if interested.

I'm thinking I'll extend that line. I'm going to install a can when I change the plugs soon.

My catch can arrived today, they are even smaller than I thought.

If you can't find room for something this small you aren't trying...

Cambo , from my experience with catch cans you may need to mount it lower than the pcv , the oil ( fumes ) needs to drop into the pot .

A baffled pot will trap more than an empty tank type .

I wouldn't drain that back to sump , it quickly turns into sludge . It should be removed and cleaned at oil change interval .

I had a long drain tube running from the catch can down down next to the undertray of my old car. That made it really easy during oil change time, just flip open the valve and drain it out with your engine oil.

Will some one tell me were to splice in a catch can. Here is a diagram and it shows 1 being the PCV and 4 is attached and runs to the the driver side intake.

4.2L XF SV8 is the same as 4.2L XJR

Basically on your picture the can is fitted inline somewhere between the letter 1 and the letter 4, in that PCV line.

What I intend to do is add hoses in between the PCV valve and the PCV line that connects to it, that's where the can goes.
