Default Headlight Interchange

Does anybody know if the 2011 and the 2009 headlight housings interchange? I found a set of 2009 headlight assemblies and want to buy them so I can cut them open and do a head light mod so I can add an LED DRL strip.

Yes they will. All 2009-2011 headlight housing is the same part number.

I was very confused because some said "yes" while others said "no". I see now that they have the same part numbers. I could not see any visible difference. And that is why I asked. I will let you know for sure when I get them and dismantle them for modifications.

Thanks!

Fair warning!!! These light assemblies do NOT open by baking like most others. You will melt and deform the back housing before you can even budge the lens off!! We used a heat knife and cut them open. AND it's important to pay attention to all the mounting tabs inside as well.
I sent mine to New Jersey to have them done. He was fast, less than two weeks and most of that was shipping time. We actually talked through what I wanted as he did the job. Really a great guy and very professional.
I too, wanted a drl strip but I agreed that aftermarket led strips just don't show up during the day. And with the washer it wouldn't have a cohesive look. If you're going for the facelift look, you won't be happy!!
My advice is to open them if you can, paint the interior satin black, (I had him leave the chrome rings on both lights), move the center parking bulb to the lower area of high beams to give a custom look, paint the small parking lens black. If you want some interior DRL, order the LED rings. I think it's 100mm. But don't quote me. I regret not putting them in. I did put them in my XK8. Very bright and visible in the day.

Here's a close up. I've never done any mod that has gotten more attention at car events!! Even my dealer was totally confused when he saw them. Thought they were a special edition or aftermarket set.
I've not had any issue with moisture either. He re sealed them perfectly. I am having them polished and clear coated too. Also think I'm painting the back of clear lens, ( the part behind the face and upper area that's visible when bonnet open, just to clean up even more! Headlight Interchange-image.jpg
