Default How accurate is the oil level sensor?

Has anyone checked the accuracy of the oil level sender after extracting the oil? My first oil change when I got the car was done at the dealer and showed 1/2 qt low right after the change. I added a 1/2 Qt and it was good for 7500 k miles alter\.

Second one done at a firestone (yeah I know, was in a rush and traveling) not sure they even checked it after. showed overfill so pulled 2.5 Qt to get it level. 1000k miles later it showed 1 qt low was worried it burning it or something was screwed up so added only 1/2 qt back. Drove 1/2 qt low, checked ever y start up, 1/2 qt low never moved . 1000 miles later on my routine daily check it showed Over.... not gonna touch it now. How dependable are these things??

My engine takes around 7.8quarts and right before i changed the oil i checked the oil level and it was reading ok right at the middle so i drained the oil and only came out about 4.5 quarts😂 so now i change my oil more frequently and instead of putting in 7.8 quarts i just do 8.

Did you reset the oil level after the oil change - see attached starting on page 7 - Make sure you wait at least 10 - 15 mins after shutting down the engine and that the hood is open.
It's a little tricky but not as bad as resetting the maintenance reminder

I have done all the checking and understand the process.. I have a 3.0 AWD and took it for an oil change (i was travelling and did not have time to do it myself so I Went to firestone- I know stupid but was in a pinch) and noticed that the oil level read over, I looked at the work order and it read added 72.2 Qts jaguar spec oil. Took forever but I found the AWD uses 1.2 Qts LESS because the pan is different due to the front drive shafts (makes sense)

I proceeded to suck out the oil figuring 1.2 QT should come out. Kept going and I had to remove 2.5 QT to get a good reading.

When I had the oil changed form the dealer it was perfect on level ground and in my slightly pitched drive it reads 1/2 qt low. Does the some now. I am thinking it was way over before but will measure when I change the oil.

I am going to change the oil again this weekend (its at 3k Miles) for my sanity. I will actually send i a sample to Blackstone to get a UOA. I want to check longevity in this car for between oil changes and see if there is any evidence of wear ( and sell the thing before it shows.
