Default How long will my XF run like Poop?

The dealer reset the tranny and engine ECU to try and fix the shifting issue I posted about a few weeks ago (hard shift into 1st coming to a stop).

The car is very boggy off the line. Boggs bad. Turned the DSC off to the first step to make sure the trac control was not killing it and it still Boggs.

I have only driven it for about 10 miles since the reset, but it was with the "flag" button lit.

I will put 40 miles on it tomorrow for work and I hope it starts running right again.

BTW - gas is good, 93 Shell. Same gas I always run and am n the middle of a tank now.

Not to sure about the bogging issue. I drive it in normal mode almost 100% of the time and wont step on it hard unless I need to. I don't think it really bogs for me but definitely has a delay a bit it seems. But the gas milage is "good" maybe because of it.

Did the aggressive shifting stop? Mine certainly has. Feels like a new car again and I am enjoying it more!

Mine has never bogged. In normal D, no dynamic mode (flag), and DSC on, it will leave rubber if you floor it. Maybe it'll be fine with next tankful. Use every drop on the current tank before filling again (from a different gas station).

I don't know about the 09-11 XFs, but the 12s start off in second. Put it in S and manually put in 1st and see if still does it - i doubt it.

That's why these cars get such a good gas mileage. If it were to start off in first, it would glue you into the seat every time you get on it.

I am told the learning process is about 110 miles to adapt and relearn

I will give it a week. And no, going to dinner tonight it hit 1st enough to jerk the car forward as I stopped at a light.

@executive my 2011 starts in 2nd unless you put it into first. 424lb of torque from 2500 rpm it could probably start in 3rd.

I guess all the xf are programmed the same.

I can imagine with the extra 100hp. I rarely even shift it down to first, cause if i do and keep my foot down, it just starts roasting the tires.

I tried to reset the tranny myself, and I'm pretty sure it worked (meaning no more lurch as I come to a stop). I did 4-5 COMPLETE stops at stop signs without lifting off the brake at all. This is not the smoothest way to stop, since we all lift off the brake as we come to a stop. Somehow, the tranny seems to be interpreting that 3-4 MPH motion just after you lift off the brake to mean you're about to accelerate, so it shifts down to 1st gear, giving you that lurch.

Try, this and see if it helps -- nothing to lose.

Second gear, not first. But, good info and will try that myself.
