Default how to use newer iPhones with 1st gen XF entertainment system?

My XF came with iPod connectivity, its a 30 pin adapter but i have a iPhone 6S. i bought a 30pin to lightning adapter, that didnt work. The car has B&O system. theres also a possibility the adapter I am using is not good. its not a genuine adapter but it does charge the phone, so i figure it's "accepted" by the phone

I dont want to go the bluetooth route (unless I have to). AUX has HORRIBLE sound quality. is there a newer wire I can order from Jag that will work? anyone have the part number?

thanks

You are on the right track. You need an adapter to change the old style iPod connector to the new lightening one. The cheap imports often only connect the pins for the charging connectors - that's probably what you are experiencing. But the official Apple one (expensive) or an aftermarket one that connects all the pins incl sounds and it should work fine

No problem. Any reason why not Bluetooth. The tune2air or similar device works well and much more convenient not to unplug and plug in all the time

I have the apple lightning to 30 pin connector and it works perfectly.

I've considered tune2air but never pulled the trigger.

Did you ever find a cable for this?

this issue is well explored in the XK forum. The Bovee WMA1000 works very well providing Bluetooth connection to the OEM 30 pin connector. There is also a new unit that runs Bluetooth 5.0 called the CHOOCL. I have used both and they are great sound quality and very stable.

Link for the choocl? I’ve ordered a fanxoo version and will report back. Just looking for in car controls!

FANXOO does not work. Sadness.

To close the loop for myself, I ordered the CHOOCL BT 5.0, and it works perfectly.

I dont think i ever gave an official update to my problem. Turns out, you need to have at least ONE song in the phones memory in order for it to work correctly (even if you're streaming music from youtube or pandora)

the minute i added 1 song to my phones itunes, everything started working correctly

I purchased a "Maedhawk 3.5mm Bluetooth Aux Adapter For Car Stylish Bluetooth 5.0 Receiver" from eBay. It works like a champ. I paid around $13.00 USD for it.

There is a song in iTunes called “A a a a a very good song” which is 10 minutes of silence. Ideal song for your use case.
